Reid Heitkamp (1956)

Reid Heitkamp, 80, of Farmington Hills, MI passed away following a sudden illness on Thursday, November 22, 2018.  He was surrounded by his loving family as he moved to his forever heavenly home.

Reid was born in Washington, DC in 1938 to Ken and Ruth Heitkamp. He graduated from Mackenzie High School and Wayne State University. On February 3, 1962, he married Brooke, his wife of 50 years and together they had two children.

Reid worked for the City of Detroit for 37+ years, retiring as Operations Manager of Cobo Center. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and church friends traveling, kayaking, sailing, U of M football, plays, concerts, and always loving a good book.

His love of his Church (Nardin Park United Methodist Church) was evident by the 70 years of singing in the choir and his participation in numerous committees and social groups.

Reid‘s recent years were spent traveling the world with his Very Significant other, Pat Lange.

Reid was a strong, educated man of great faith, unmatched generosity and possession of a very giving soul who always did what he could for others. He will be greatly missed by so many!

Surviving are his children Keith (Dawn) Heitkamp, Gayle (Todd) Delagrange, grandchildren Sean (Brianna) McGuiggan, Alec McGuiggan, Kyle McGuiggan, Taylor Heitkamp, Brianna Heitkamp, great granddaughter Anslee McGuiggan, brother John (Birgitte) Heitkamp, Nephew/Nieces Grant (Ilana) Heitkamp, Nina Jackson, Chrissy Jackson with more relatives across the states.
