Norman Tople

Norman John Tople, Class of '58, was 77 when he died Tuesday October 10th at the Angela Hospice Home in Livonia following a brief illness. He leaves behind his brothers, Ronald and Marvin Tople, neices and nephews, Tom Tople, Edward Tople, Julie DeWitt, Lawrence Tople, Stephanie Tople, and Christine Sova. Born and raised in Detroit, the son of Edward and Ruth (Otto) Tople was a resident of Farmington Hills. After graduating from Mackenzie High School, he attended Michigan State University where he was on the diving team, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. In 1964, he joined the U.S. Army. After serving with the Army, Mr. Tople had the opportunity to join the workforce in various jobs in the auto industry. Mr. Tople made a name for himself in the housing market becoming an entrepreneur. Mr. Tople was an avid hunter, collector of fine things, and a lover of his dachshunds . He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held October 21st at the Holy Sepulchre, The Archdiocesan Catholic Cemeteries with a private burial.

Very sad to hear of Norm's passing; I spoke with Norm many times, here...and the Patton Pool Memories site.  Norm was a talented springboard diver; he was also an avid fan of the sport...and...one of his favorite athletes, Barbara Sue Gilders (Dudeck)

Sorry to hear of the loss of Norm.  Mackenzie swimmers spent many hours at Patton pool.

We had special memories of that time at Patton and Mechanzie swimming pool.
