Charles Phillips, age 89 of Novi, died peacefully October 7, 2023, surrounded by family. Born December 27, 1933, in Detroit, MI. Beloved husband of Sallie for 65 years. Dear father of Julie (Joe) Farrell and Jane (Ken) Dause. Loving grandfather of Christopher, Daniel, Megan and Michael. Great-grandfather of Joey, Lillian, Melanie, Joshua, Henry and Jackson. Also survived by sister-in-law Vikki Yoder and one brother, and predeceased by his parents, sister and a brother. Chuck graduated from Mackenzie High School and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He played upright bass in a jazz band and was a barber in Dearborn Heights for many of his early years. After that, he was in the printing business until he retired. Chuck had a wonderful sense of humor and came up with great one-liners for comic relief to everyone! He made many life-long friends along the way with whom he and Sallie spent much time over the years. He loved playing golf, fishing, traveling with Sallie and spending time with family. In his later years, Chuck learned to play piano, which provided him with much enjoyment.
