David Forsyth Gibb

Bloomfield Hills - David Forsyth Gibb of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2022. David was born on March 21, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the second son of Robert M. and Margaret J. Gibb. He attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit where he graduated in 1950. After graduation, he attended Michigan State University (Go Green!) where he majored in journalism, was on the tennis team, was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha where he served as Vice President and joined the Reserve Officers' Training Program (ROTC). He graduated in 1954 and was commissioned into the United States Air Force and served as a Radar Specialist in Long Island New York. In 1957, he married Dorothy Dean White, and they had two children, Allison Jean and Melissa Janet and they lived in Birmingham and Howell, Michigan.

In 1978, he married Janet Starr Little and welcomed a third daughter, Beth Alison, to the family. They resided in Northville, Lathrup Village and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Throughout his career, David worked at the Birmingham Eccentric, IBM, Stahl Manufacturing and Unisys Corporation. He was an avid tennis player, playing well into his eighties and he and Janet enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He was an enthusiastic Spartan fan and he loved spending time at his cottage in Port Austin, Michigan and in Venice, Florida.

David was predeceased by his parents and older brother, Jim and his wife Jackie, his grandson, Ryan Steigerwald and his great grandson, Pierce Movitz. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, his daughters Allison Jean Gibb of Howell, Michigan, Melissa Gibb Muir and her husband, Ward, of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Beth Alison Steigerwald and her husband Scott of Port Austin, Michigan; his grandchildren Kyle Steigerwald, Kate Movitz and her husband Brandon, Tyler Steigerwald and his fiancé Mary Liesveld, and Stephanie Steigerwald; and great grandchildren Henrik Steigerwald, Julian Steigerwald, Jude Movitz, and Beau Movitz. He is lovingly remembered by his in- laws Elmer and Karen Rousseaux, and many nieces and nephews and dear friends, especially Kim Dewberry who was our rock and "General" to the "Captain."

A celebration of David's life will be in the Spring. Memorial contributions are appreciated to The Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue in Shingleton, Michigan, The Livingston County Humane Society in Howell, Michigan, The Pierced Forever Foundation in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and The Ryan Harth Steigerwald Medical Center in Indiana.
