Obituary of Sue S. Kolbusz

Sue S. (Healey) Kolbusz, age 74, (Class of '59) of Buckley passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 10, 2016. She was born April 22, 1941 in Detroit; the daughter of Lewis and Nora (Saunders) Healey. Sue graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit in 1959. Sue married the late Carl Kolbusz on May 28, 1960. Together they raised four children. In 1969 Carl and Sue moved to Empire and, shortly there-after, they moved to the family cattle farm in Buckley. Sue was a member of the Buckley school board for many years and was active in 4-H with her children and grandchildren. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and she was a huge Detroit Tigers fan. Sue also enjoyed snowmobiling, deer hunting, and horseback riding. She will be greatly missed by her children: Kathleen (Thomas) Rodes of Traverse City, Charles (Lori) of Buckley, and Michael (Micheyl) of Buckley; 10 grandchildren: Jami and Kaleb Rodes, Kyle, Tyler, McKenna, Trenton, Amelia, Grace, Lily, and Grant; sisters Connie Kotas of Las Vegas, NV and Nancy Healey of Florida, and beloved dog Miggy. Besides her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband: Carl, Son: Timothy, and sister: Helen Healey. The family would like to thank all of the caring and compassionate nurses with Munson Hospice, especially Wendy, Amy, Julie, and all of the rest who lovingly cared for Sue as she gracefully passed on. A celebration of life service will take place Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. Family will greet friends beginning at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions in Sue’s name and in lieu of flowers may be directed to the N.W. Michigan 4-H Livestock Council. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
