Wendy of Traverse City, Wendy Kay Terry, 75, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her residence with her husband by her side on May 16, 2017. Wendy was born on December 19, 1941 to the late Wendell and Elizabeth (Dyer) Byrns, in Detroit. She graduated from Detroit's Mackenzie High School and attended Michigan State. Wendy worked as a dental assistant in downtown Detroit where she met her future husband, Richard on a blind date. After a six month, whirlwind courtship, they were married on August 29, 1964. Before moving to the Traverse City area in 1999 the family lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and were active socially with many good and dear friends. Wendy was a proud and very active member of the Birmingham Junior League and was involved with the Jr. League's Virginia Slims Professional Women's Tennis Tournament. She also was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. Wendy worked with her husband in their business that was involved in the hotel industry. This gave them the opportunity to travel a great deal throughout the United States and Europe. Wendy enjoyed the friendship of many people in the hotel business. For over ten years Wendy worked in real estate as an assistant to Cookie McCullough at Real Estate One. Wendy is survived and dearly missed by her husband of almost 53 years Richard, her son Keith and her grandchildren Keaten Richard, Kasey Cooper, Kurt Noel and Katerina Louise, as well as many special friends. A memorial service to honor Wendy's life will take place on June 7, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home; 305 Sixth Street.
