Morrison, John H. July 6, 2022. John was the only son of John Harmon Morrison, DO, and Shirley Elizabeth Morrison, RN, he spent his childhood in Northwest Detroit. He moved to Ann Arbor and Chicago in the course of his studies to become an Osteopathic Physician. After marrying in 1968, he moved "home" to southeast Michigan in 1969 to establish his medical practice at Garden City Hospital. John was a proud advocate for the Osteopathic Profession throughout his adult life. He educated and trained hundreds of physicians and inspired two of his children to follow him into Osteopathic Medicine. He took on many leadership roles within the DO community at the local, state, and national level. John was a devout Catholic and active parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church of White Lake, where he served on the Parish Council. John loved travel and family gatherings. He enjoyed boating on any one of his favorite Michigan lakes – Torch, Walloon, Walled or Sugden. He was an automobile and aviation enthusiast, early adopter of technology and always wanted to try something new. John loved the practice of medicine, reading novels and playing cards. He enjoyed sharing Star Wars movies with his kids and grandkids. He was an avid sports fan– especially the Detroit Red Wings and Michigan Football. The family will receive guests Friday, July 8, from 3pm to 8pm at O’Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue in Novi, Michigan. A funeral mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, in White Lake Township, Michigan, at 11 am July 9. Visitation at church will begin at 10:00 am. In lieu flowers, charitable donations can be made in his honor to Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (Midwestern University), the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan or the American Lung Association.
