To any of my classmates who attended Ludington Magnet Middle School (in northwest Detroit) like me,
According to Coach Mike Williams (who started teaching at Ludington in Sept. 2019), Ludington has closed for good as of a few days ago.  Wow; what a shame.  [Please see https://www.facebook.com/groups/LudingtonAlumni  .]  According to Ashley Gunn's post at this page (a few posts below the GIF of Steve Harvey), Ludington lost a lot of middle school age students to surrounding schools in recent years, and Detroit Public Schools didn't see the need to keep Ludington open anymore.  (According to Ludington's webpage at https://www.detroitk12.org/Ludington, Ludington is down to only 33 students this school year.  Wow.)  Also at https://www.facebook.com/groups/LudingtonAlumni , Mr. Fab posted that he didn't retire from Ludington until 2004 (wow), and someone else posted that Ms. Higgins was still there as of 2019.
A little history now follows about Ludington's various homes.  Ludington's original building was at 15325 Pinehurst, northeast of Fenkell & Meyers.  (That building is still there, but in 1994, Loyola High School, a Catholic high school for boys, moved in, and is still there.)  In January(?) 1976, it moved to its second home at 19355 Edinborough northeast of 7 Mile & Greenfield.  (That's the location that me and my classmates graduated from in June 1978.  That building is still there, but it has had a "For Sale" sign in front of it since at least July 2014.)  In Sept.(?) 2012, Ludington moved into its current home at 19051 Berg Rd., northwest of 7 Mile & Lahser, the former Taft Elementary School, then the Langston Hughes Academy (middle school).  Detroit Public Schools moved the Communication & Media Arts High School (CMA) into this building in Sept. 2020, to share with Ludington students.  CMA will now have this building all to themselves.
A related site that some of you fellow Ludington alumni may want to check out is "Ludington Middle School in the '70's" at https://www.facebook.com/groups/140827595931632.
I'm sorry for the bad news,
Roman Skikun
