Ronald Powers, 67, of Petoskey, died January 22, 2012, at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.

Ron was born on June 21, 1944, in Detroit, the son of William and Regina (Berendt) Piotrowski. Ron grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from the Wayne State University Law School in 1971 and moved to Northern Michigan.

In 1974, Ron opened his own law practice on East Lake Street, which he continued to operate until the time of his death. 

On August 10, 1982, Ron married Patricia Nadzam on Mackinac Island and together they made their home in Petoskey.

He was an avid walker and bike rider and enjoyed playing golf and going to deer camp.

Ron was a member of the Michigan Bar Association. 

Ron is survived by his wife, Patricia; three children, Jamie (Thomas Jonsson) Powers of Philadelphia, Pa., Kel Powers of Hyannis, Mass., and Lor Powers of Petoskey; three siblings, the Honorable Dennis (Pat) Powers of Oakland County, Mich., Nancy (Bill) Platts of Grand Marais, Mich., and Robert "Bob" (Sue) Powers of Whitehall, Mich.; and by his secretary of 21 years, Cynthia Taylor of Petoskey.

A memorial gathering will take place 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.

Ronald William Powers who passed away in Petoskey on January 22, 2012, is also survived by his first wife, Carol Linhard, and their two sons, Ronald Brett Powers and Robert Brad Powers, of Murrieta, Calif.; his grandson, Tyler Kenneth Powers, of Orange County, Calif.; and his granddaughter, Shyanna Pauline Powers, of Carp Lake, Mich.
