Al Sant attended the University of Detroit where he studied engineering from 1962 through 1967. He was married and had a son and a daughter. Al died in a car crash in Wilder, KY, which is just south of Cincinnati. He was a passenger in a test vehicle and died instantly when the driver lost control and collided with a truck.
