The last page in the Chapter of the life for Yvonne Henderson-Thurman, was written before the sun set on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 5:20 a.m.

Yvonne affectionately referred to as "Bonnie", was a loving Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend and Community Activist.

Born on November 9, 1954, to Bessie and Steve Henderson, (preceded her in death) Yvonne was the second child of four that was born to this union.

Nurtured and rooted in faith Yvonne accepted Christ at an early age and continued to be led by her strong devotion to the Lord.  It was Bonnie's faith that led her to join New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she was a devoted member until she was called home.

As a child Yvonne was focused in her desire to succeed and was always the spark that lit up her family in a joyous way.  It was her infestious laughter combined with her spirtiuality that made a party incomplete until she arrived.

Gifted with a network of many close friends and associates Yvonne was educated in Detroit Public Schools and graduated in 1972 from Mackenzie High School.  Due to her love of education she pursued a higher degree graduating from Wyane State University in 1979 with a B.S. emphasizing in Business and Marketing.

Early on Yvonne displayed a unique style combined with a love of fashion and decorating.  These skill sets were the hallmark for her eventual progression as a make-up stylist and buyer for what is formerly called Hudson's.  After an extended period in the fashion and sales arena that led her from Hudson's to Betty's Beauty and Barber Co., where Yvonne excelled as a Terriroty Represenative, Yvonne eventually decided to take a leap of faith and enter the world of pharmaceutical sales.  It was at Takeda Pharmaceuticals where she worked tirelessly and excelled as a Senior Sales Represenative, learning every aspect of her career and becoming an accomplished executive in her field.

Because of her love of politics and the greater community she was led to the "Black Women's Agenda", an organization dedicated to the presevation and advancement of family values.  As one of the founding chapter members in the state of Michigan, Yvonne assumed the role of Recording Secretary and continued to carry out her duties even while facing her personal health challenges.

Never too tired, too busy or too sick to listen to her family and friends Yvonne will be remembered for her even temper, her balanced personality, her sweet disposition and how she spoke only words of kindness for all that she came to know.

Yvonne leaves us a legacy of love hope and endurance that we each should triumph as she did in the face of adversity.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving mother Bessie Henderson, sisters, Elaine Henderson, Rosalind Henderson, brothers; Steve (Gayle) Henderson and Reginald "Reggie" Lutes.  Two Nieces; Dominique, Crystal Paige, one Nephew: Shawnteze (Shameca) Castro; one Grandniece Madison Castro and many loving relative and close friends.

...each page of her life was detailed with glory,

for the honor in which she lived,

some memories left to recall upon,

are chronicled in this narrative.

Each moment she lived was a blessing -

As if an Angel had spread her wings

Yvonne touched our lives, our souls and our hearts

With a well-spring of offerings. .  . .
