Gustine Johnson

Gustine Johnson

Tina and I grew up in True Love Missionary Baptist Church together where her grandfather was our Pastor, Reverend E.N Cox - We attended and graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1972.  We even shared the same birthday!!  We sang in the choir together, got in trouble together and enjoyed each other friendships over the years.  Tina was a warm, kind and giving person.  She will truly be missed.  Below is her Obituary, like Tina, she wrote it herself.  It reads:

On October 30, 1954, I, Gustine Johnson was born to Ethel and Gus Johnson.  I was a pretty little thing.  My sister, Alma Jean adored me.  My Uncle Herman and Aunt Shirley thought I was special.  I cannot forget my grandparents, Earnest, Martha and Onnie, sitting next to me and welcoming me home.  Look, here comes LaKeila, my baby girl, running with open arms saying, "Welcome home Mommy!"

Now let me tell you a little about myself.  I grew up in Detroit, Michigan.  I accepted Christ as my personal Savior at True Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of my grandfather, Reverend E.N.Cox.  I graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit Michigan.  I also attended Wayne State University.  My first job was with Ford Motor Company as an adminisratie assistant.  Who would have known I would have ended up in Meridian, Mississippi?  I worked for the city of Meridian and Mr. Discount Pharmacy until March 25, 2014 when God carried me home.

I leave behind my loving mother, Ethel.  My children, Katina and D'Angelo (Shenise).  Five grandchildren, Zion, Kyla, D'Angelo, Jr., D'Avayah, Devyone.  Sister, Alma (Jimmy) Aunt Shirley; Four nieces, Jeannetta, Alesia (John Wayne), Letoya (Charles), Latasha (Shedrick).  Four Nephews, Jimmy III (Celina),  Earnest (Tashala), Orlando (Resa), Jerome (Keisha) along with a host of great nieces, great nephews and friends.  I also leave my life long friends and sisters, Shelia and Patricia.

Don't worry about me.  I have gone home.  Don't cry.  I will always be in your heart.  Just remember all of the good times we shar3ed and the things I have taught you.  I will always love you.  Kisses, Tina

Rest on my friend - Beverly!!
