Robby died in a motorcycle accident on October 19, 1987. A day that crushed his family and friends. He was the first of many of my friends to pass away and a hard one to handle. His sisters, Renee and Roselle still go to the shrimp boil occasionally as do his closest friends, Dave and Betty and Kelly(if I forgot anyone else, please forgive me). He is still loved by many and remembered fondly by all.

A family friend, Joe Kubilus was his cousin. He lived several blocks from us when I was a child. Joe lives in Atlanta now near me....this is what he told me.

Robbie was killed right before his 21st birthday a block from Vandenberg School near Cal ’s. He was turning the corner on a motorcycle and slid on the gravel. He hit the ground head first and was killed instantly.

Joe's brother in-law ironically has the same type of crash in Dyer over 10 years ago...but survived his bike accident only due to a helmet.

I miss Rob and continue to think of him frequently. We were room mates after high school for a short while and remained friends. A group of us would go camping, still have pictures. Throwing the football and listening to Dire Straits (his favorite by the way). The day he was injured, a group of his friends, all went to St. Jude Church and they spoke of Rob during this session. I do not remember that he died instantly for that life support was utilized for a short while. In any event he continues to be missed!!
