I have known Steve since grade school at Holy Rosary Cathedral. He was popular and a natural leader from those early days. His dad owned a grocery store in West Duluth and Steve worked there after school. Steve hosted many parties at his home both in grade school and high school.

At Cathedral he was elected class president several years and a student council leader. In his junior year I recall Steve went to Boys State at Carleton College in Northfield, MN for future leaders. Steve attended Holy Cross seminary after graduating Cathedral. He was one of the most liked and admired students in our class. He was a splendid person, a man of true quality. We are poorer for his absence. Those who knew Steve will deeply miss him. I sure do.
