Ms. Kizzy Felisa Atkins, daughter of Carolyn J. Akins and James Rochelle Sr. (Johnnie), was born in Durham on May 4, 1977. She departed this walk of life January 11, 2006, at Durham Regional Hospital.
She graduated from Durham High School and later attended Durham Technical Community College, with a Major in Respiratory Therapy. She worked at Bethesda Elementary School for several years, then at Northern Telecom, Inc.
Kizzy was the mother of three children: Reginald Maurice Johnson, Destiny Somone Johnson and Brandon Nicklas Johnson.
As a young adult, Ms. Atkins became a member of Southside Church of Christ in Durham.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charlie Atkins Jr. and paternal grandfather, Charles Rochelle.
Kizzy leaves to cherish and mourn her memory, her parents, three sisters, Tekella Atkins, Brittany Rochelle and Jasmine Roberson, all of Durham; two brothers, James Rochelle Jr. and Demario Rochelle, both of Durham; maternal grandmother, Elnora Atkins, of Durham; paternal grandmother, Lucille Rochelle, of Durham; eight aunts, Annie Atkins, Brenda atkins, Sharon atkins, Shelia atkins, all of Durham, Mattie atkins, of Timberlake, Shirley R. Williams, Barbara Rochelle and Gean Rochelle-Hardnett (Jeff), all of Durham; three uncles, Rodney Atkins (Loretta), of Durham, Walter Rochelle, of Richmond, Va., and Charlie atkins, of Durham; two nieces, Saniya Rochelle and Aja Rochelle, both of Durham; nine great aunts, Mary McClary (William), Eva Taylor (Rev. T.E. Taylor), Lillie Duke Harris (Sherman), Cornell Ross, all of Durham, Shirley Bass, of Butner, Pearl Thompson, of Hillsborough, Patricia Parker (Johnny), of Hillsborough, Martha Burnett, of Durham, and Noronia "Peaches" Wilson, of Raleigh; great uncle, John atkins, (Dorothy), of Hillsborough; two great-great aunts, Sue Cameron, of Durham and Beatrice T. Carver, of Mebane, and a host of other friends and loving relatives.
