Richard was born & raised in Schererville, and still resides there. He has been a member of St. Michael's Parish his whole life. He went to school there, was married there and we sent our children there, all eight years.
He married Mary Jane Maye on September 28, 1963 and we will celebrate our 47th anniversary this year. We have four children and eight grandchildren who all live close by. Richard is the greatest Grandpa in the world. He loves to babysit the grandkids whenever he is needed.
Richard was a great golfer in high school and was a member of Dyer Central's accomplished team along with his best friends.Their picture has been on the wall of the gym entrance for "50" years! Dick continues to play golf, even after suffering severe arthritis in his hands years ago.
Richard also LOVES Nascar Racing. We all used to go to Illiana to watch the races on week-ends, and all our children enjoy Nascar now. He loves watching ALL sports: golf, racing, etc and attends any when he gets a chance.
After graduating Dick worked for a couple of large tile companies and after learning the trade of installing tile, went out on his own and made it his life-long profession, even to this day. Richard also devoted over 30 years as a Schererville Volunteer Fireman. He was very dedicated to the department.
We love going to Wisconsin on our family fishing trips and bring fish home to have a "fish fry" get togethers with our family and friends.
