Jay Allen Knapp, age 71, of O'Fallon, died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Caseyville Nursing and Rehab in Caseyville. He was born August 23, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Arthur E. and Evelyn L. (Howard) Knapp. He married Mary Knapp. She preceded him in death. He is survived by a sister, Sandra Millatti of Columbia, MO; two brothers: Richard D. Knapp of Troy and Arthur H. Knapp of O'Fallon; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ross A. Millatti.

Mr. Knapp worked as a security guard for McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. He was also a veteran of the United States military. According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. His ashes will be interred next to his wife in a private ceremony at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
