Comments:

Our oldest child Janell got married this year. She and her husband, Josh Lum, will finish their senior years at Whitworth, both in Chemistry, and then he will head for medical school and she will pursue a master's degree. His parents are from Hawaii, mostly Japanese, and has been a lot of fun getting to know. He grew up in Colorado and Oregon though. I've never been to Hawaii but am looking forward to in the future.

School Story:

I remember a crazy English class with Mr. Carpenter who was gone most of the time and how he had us make up a soap opera storyline. I also remember a US history class with Mr. Parton waay out back in a portable where all we did was read the chapter and the TA gave out the test answers. There were the slimy cats we had all year long in anatomy, Mr. Clague's incredibly detailed chalk drawings, and Mr Haughee's peanut butter sandwich in a jar. Mr Gervais always having talks with football or tennis players during class, Mr Headleee getting lost taking us to a cross country meet so we got there just in time to start, and of course wacky Mr. Fox who actually put on some great musicals. I still remember Vince as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Christy as the screaming ghost mother-in-law. I also remember sprinting up the stairs to Miss Thorvaldson's room for English after lunch. I remember having to count off in PE for Miss Gordon and how Lizzy Christy and I were always in the back row, and how Miss Gordon could beat us in badminton. Probably my stongest memory is when I hooked up my bunsen burner to one gas line and turned on the other so when I lit the match, Poof, I singed my bangs and eyelashes.
