Gretchen was a good friend throughout Jr. High at Valley View. To get to each other's house we'd walk the railroad tracks. She was a unique personality - didn't try to be like anyone else and dressed really cool, too! As with so many school age friendships we lost track of each other in adulthood but have fun memories of hanging around with Gretchen.
This is Katelynne Shelley, Gretchen's niece. She passed away unexpectedly 9 years ago due to kidney failure. She passed away in Pheonix, Arizona with her family close by, where she had been living for a few years. She is remembered as up beat, funny, outgoing, positive and caring.
Gretchen was one of my "BFF" in the 70's . I have so many memories of our days together . Our friendship was a bit competitive at times from boys to clothes .. but the watermelon eating contest we entered was probably one of the most memorable events. We tied and from then on our friendship was just about being together. We remained friends throughout the years .
Gretchen was her own person and someone I was glad to call my friend. She was an original and always lots of fun! I sure wish she could be with us, she will be missed. Suanne Budolfson Garry
