Concepcion "Connie" Rios left this world and went to a place where there is peace and love on December 20,2008. Connie was fighting cancer.
Connie was not just a good friend of mine but a teammate, a protector, a roommate, and a mentor. You all might have remembered her as a "rocker" as we called them back in the day. Well she was one but then Coach Vaughn gave her the opportunity to play volleyball and she took it. She learned a lot and changed as time went by. I had the privilege to not only share good times with her but bad times as well. Those good and bad times are memories that no one can ever take away from me. I was able to share those memories with her before she left. Connie has always been a strong person and I would like to let you all know that she was still strong even during her time of weakness. I remember Connie saying in the huddle “ATM.” Boy did she inspire me a lot during my volleyball games. :) She was loyal and dedicated to win, she always gave all she had. Watching her grow was a beautiful experience. Connie overcame a lot of trials and tribulations and for that I have the up most respect for her. Although she is no longer with us she will never be forgotten in my heart. She loved me and I loved her, she fed me and I fed her, she got drunk and I got drunk, she took care of me and I took care of her. What else can anyone ask for? To me that demonstrates love. Rest in peace “camarada”. I love you. Monica
She was survived by parents, Salvador and Velia Rios, Brothers: Salvador Rios Jr., Hector Rios, Raul Rios, and Jose Rios. Sister Irma Rios.
