1978 Class Reunion Announcement

Welcome Rockets – Class of 1978 40^th Reunion. The reunion events are open to all Irvin alumni. Here are the dates and the schedule of events for the reunion. Activities are planned for the duration of Irvin’s Homecoming Weekend, October 4-6, 2018 (the 3-day Columbus weekend).

On Thursday night, from 4 pm to 7-ish, we will have a meet-and-greet (no host) at Chuy’s Mexican restaurant (on the patio) in the new FOUNTAINS AT FARAH Mall (8889 Gateway Blvd W, #1500). After, the Fountains have a number of excellent restaurants for dinner.

On Friday, meet at Topgolf (365 Vin Rambla Drive) for breakfast and golf from 9 am to 12 noon. Breakfast “buffet-style" (one serving) will be served. The set-up includes scrambled eggs + pecan wood-smoked bacon + sliced Canadian bacon + house skillet potatoes + fresh seasonal fruit + assorted Danishes + coffee, hot tea, orange juice and soft drinks (coffee, tea and soft drinks have free refills). The cost is $53.00/each – which includes three hours of Topgolf fun, breakfast, tax and tip. Clubs are included or bring your own. (Registration closes at 12 noon MT on 10/1. Please register early so that we can guarantee our space as soon as possible.)

On Friday evening at 4:30 pm, we’ll meet for a pre-game meal (no-host) at Pockets Sports Bar (9484 Dyer) for amazing burgers and mouth-watering chicken sandwiches. Then, around 6:15PM, over to Irvin for the Homecoming football game at 7:00PM! Tickets are $6. After the game, we’ll head over to the Texas Stagecoach Saloon (10416 Dyer St.) for Western/line dancing.

Saturday morning, from 10-11 am, we’ll meet at Irvin for a school tour. Consider lunch at a place like Casita Linda, Kiki's, Great American Steakburger or Chico's Tacos. Saturday night, from 6 pm to 11:30, is the dinner-dance at the Underwood Golf Complex (Ft. Bliss Golf Course) (3200 Coe Ave.). Cash bar. Dinner starts at 7 pm. Our own 1978 classmate, Michael Hale, will be performing with BCF (the band that played at our 1978 graduation party). Cost for the dinner-dance is $70/person ($140/couple) for early registration (before 9/1) and $80/person ($160/couple) for late registration (from 9/1 until 10/2). There is no same-day entrance, so please register early.

We are also accepting donations for Irvin High School.

A number of hotel rooms have been blocked at the airport Marriott (915-774-6902 or 915-779-3300). The rate is $85 per night. Group Code: IHS. You can also book your room at Marriott group rate. Register early. Free shuttle for a 3-mile radius.

When you register, please send a recent picture of yourself (jpeg), and if you have access, please send a jpeg of your yearbook picture. JPEGs will be accepted up until 9/25.
