Lewis "Lou" E. Hubbard

Lewis "Lou" Ellsworth Hubbard, 72, of Cutler, OH, passed away September 11, 2015 following a lengthy illness.

"Lou" was born September 6, 1943 in Hollidays Cove, WV, a son of the late Harold R. and Doris A. Summers Hubbard.

He graduated from Wirt County High School in 1962 and joined the Marines and proudly served his country. Lou had worked for various business before becoming self-employed. He was the owner and operator of SSI which served Ohio and West Virginia in the sanitation industry. Lou's love of cars lead him to racing where he drove late model race cars for several years. He became a race car promoter working with several race tracks including Tyler County Speedway, West Virginia Motor Speedway, Pennsboro Speedway and at Skyline Speedway, which he owned. He was part owner of the Wells Inn is Sistersville which brought him much joy. He was a member of the Rolling Oldies Car Club and enjoyed all cars from Hot Rods to antique cars. He enjoyed camping and traveling in his later years, traveling to Florida and California and taking in car shows along the way.

Surviving Lou are his wife Roxanne "Rocky" Sanford Hubbard, five children, Brian Hubbard (Connie), Joe Hubbard (Jill), Tony Hubbard, Victoria Hubbard, Jason Hubbard (Pam), several grandchildren including Chris, Vickie, Joey, Quinten, Michael, Katie, several great grandchildren, step daughter Tessa Beckett (Mike), step son Vince Palmer (Mandy), step grandchildren Jada, Colten, Sister Norma King, sister in law Jan Kaiden, mother in law Emma Jane Sanford and special family friend Kathy Waker Gist, whom Lou considered like a daughter.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by two brothers Richard Hubbard, Mike Coon, sister Eleanor "Sis" Stanley.

Later in life Lou became attached to his pets, his pot belly pig Augi Hogie Hubbard, dogs Little Boy, Nibber, Roadie, Harley and cats Cheech and Chong.

A memorial service will be 6:30 Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 6:30 prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made in Lou's memory to the Humane Society of Parkersburg or Marietta.
