Care Program

Elizabethtown Class of 1975 Care Program

One thing that has become wonderfully apparent is that the Class of ’75 has evolved to become something unique and special.  We are a class that cares about one another.

The Care Program:  How It Began

Without a doubt, in the past few years many members of our class have come back together in a big way.  Without intending to, and quietly in the background, a few class members have begun reaching out to offer other members of the class who, due to a life event, were in need of encouragement and support through;  card showers, visiting friends, sending memorial tributes, sending message, making phone calls, and sometimes even sending money or gift cards to help defray expenses in cases of an extreme medical crisis.

Understandably, the recipients of this support and others who heard about it wanted to keep this movement going, and wanted to be involved and “pay it forward”.   As the movement started to spread, we decided that we needed a more organized way to keep this feeling of brotherly love for our classmates going, and to allow everyone who wanted to participate, the opportunity to be a part of this great idea.  Thus began the Care Program.

How You Can Get Involved:

We know that we have a diverse class, with equally diverse sets of resources.  Some of those resources are financial, but other resources are your time, your talents, and your connections.  In the beginning, we are starting small and keeping it simple.

A big way that you can help is to let us know when one of our classmates needs our encouragement and support.  If you learn of a serious illness or need, or of the death of a classmate,  spouse, parent or in-law, sibling, child, or grandchild, please contact (Rose Tobias Breinich at RBreinich@aol.com or see her contact info in her profile and/or the facebook site) with that information.

Our Programs:

Memorial Tributes:

  • In the event of the death of a classmate, their spouse, a parent, a child, or a grandchild, a memorial tribute will be sent on behalf of the class.  The tribute will be a small grove of trees planted in one of the national forests in the name of their loved one.  A certificate and a card will be sent to our classmate to extend our condolences and to honor their family member.
  • To contribute to the memorial tribute fund, you can either mail a donation by check to (PO Box 70 Elizabethtown, Pa.17022) or you can send your contribution electronically through PayPal with a regular credit card on this site. Just click on the donate button.
  • Card Shower, Visits, Other Means of Encouragement and Support
  • Card showers will be organized and messages will be sent to the class when word is received of a death, illness, and in some exceptional cases of special needs of a classmate, spouse, parent or in-law, sibling, child, grandchild so that class members can show their support in appropriate ways (cards, gift-card, visit, medical supplies such as a wheelchair  no longer needed etc.).  If you know of such a need, please contact (Rose Tobias Breinch at RBreinich@aol.com or see her contact info in her profile and/or the facebook site)  Please be sure that you have permission from the person in need and the specific information wanting to be given out, or that you can provide a way for us to reach the person to get permission.  Our goal is to support and encourage, but also to respect privacy wishes.
