Duane was killed in a car accident Jan. 15, 2000.  Here's a bit from the obituary:

HARLEM -- Mr. Duane Eric Carter, 31, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in Columbia County.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Starling Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mr. Carter, a native of Huntington, W.Va., was a plumber at Stringfellow Plumbing. He was a member of the CSRA Blind Bowlers and coached soccer for Columbia County Youth Department. He was a member of Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Marie Carter; a son, Jordan Carter, Harlem; four daughters, Rhiannon Carter, Faith Carter, Kimberly Carter and Hope Carter, all of Harlem; his parents, Wilburn Carter and Rosemary Carter, Forest, Va.; and two brothers, Richard Carter, LaPlacid, La., and David Carter, Forest.
