In a nutshell -- after graduating from Rutgers (Cook College), I moved to D.C. and worked for a few environmental policy NGOs. After 5 yrs, I went to UC Berkeley to get my Master of Public Health and then stayed on the west coast. Worked for Washington State Dept of Ecology for 6 years in Olympia, WA and then moved to Portland in 1998 to take a job with the Oregon Environmental Council.
Met my husband here in 1999 (we were married in 2004). We both quit our jobs in 2006 and moved to southern Mexico for a year, where we learned some Spanish and did volunteer work. We've been back in Portland for over 2 years now, and just finished a small addition to our 1924 vintage home (where I suspect we will be living for quite a while). We live in a quiet neighborhood with 100 yr old elms, that is just a 15 minute bike ride from downtown Portland.
We enjoy Portland and the area very much, and spend a lot of time hiking, biking and cross country skiing (often with the 2 dogs we brought back from Mexico). We also do a lot of international travel, which we hope to continue doing for a long time as well.
