Some of us are blessed to have to have a friend that is almost like a sibling to us. Doug was such a friend to me. I first met him in kindergarten, and we immediately became best friends. That was the fall of 1967. I am ashamed to say that we, at times, made things rather trying for Mrs. Isabell, our teacher. For the next 27 years, our friendship endured. We shared our hopes, dreams, and fears with each other. We laughed together, and we cried together. After graduation, when I needed a place to stay in Lincoln, he gave me one. When he needed a place to stay, I gave him one. The day he passed away, a part of me died with him.

Rest in the arms of the Lord, Doug. I miss you very much.
