Ray was without a doubt one of the true characters I have ever known....and one of the strongest guys as well. Most probably weren't aware of his ability to bench press - I can't remember the weight, but it was surprising to see him do it one day after school. And he also had a very inquisitive side to him as well.

Speaking of Ray's inquisitive nature, I'll never forget him practically cornering Linda Rhodes one day in the hallways and Linda being very nervous over it.

I think we all remember (and there's a yearbook picture documenting it) when Ray went on one of his long commentaries one day in the cafeteria, addressing everyone and everything. And behind him, almost in hysterics, is Joe Guinan. I always suspected that Joe initiated that incident.

Somehow, I have this image of Ray and Dick McHughston up there on some cloud, having a long, rambling discussion and just having a good old time.

Ray was a good soul.
