Larry and my former husband (Bill Gross) were best friends growing up in Spanish Lake.  Larry was also an usher  at our wedding in 1971. He told me it was the only wedding he had ever attended that did not serve wine at the reception.  I remember taking office machines class at HHS with Larry and he showed me how to make an arrow taut on the bowstring (archery) in PE class our senior year.  He was fun-loving and had the wildest sense of humor.  He and Bill played a lot of practical jokes through the years.. lots of clowning around.  He visited Bill and I a couple times when we lived in San Diego (the 1st time) in the mid-70's. I was attending nursing school at the time and should never have let the two talk me into staying out all night dancing before that physiology mid term exam. The last time  I remember seeing Larry was at our home in Maryland Heights in the early 90's.  He loved to joke around with our three kids, especially Will, jr.  Larry felt it was his duty to break Will from the apron strings, so to speak. Bill and I returned to CA in 1994 and corresponded regularly with Larry until about a year before he died.  It's so easy to lose touch when life gets crazy.  He and his wife had divorced.  He had two children, a boy and a girl. He was very proud of them. We heard of Larry's death from his mom several months after Larry's funeral.  The details were sad.  Needless to say, life got complicated.  We miss the good times we had in our carefree childhoods.. racing on Hall St (I promise I only did it once), breakfast in the wee hrs of the morning at Steak n Shake, shrimp and beer for $1 at Fast Eddie's across the river in Alton, and that Halloween party Larry invited us to attend when I still looked good in fishnet stockings. Although I don't remember the year of Larry's death, it was sometime before Bill and I divorced in 2001.  I pray that I'll see Larry's ear to ear smile and laughing eyes again one day in eternity.  God bless his family and children.  We miss you Larry!

God rest your soul Larry and God bless your loved ones! I remember you...always making us laugh or smile...A true happy heart! I'm so saddened that your life ended so unexpectedly! You were greatly appreciated at H.H.S. (atleast by me, for sure)...always a kind of funny word, to cheer). You are missed!
