Derek C. Krenski VIEW PROFILE

Derek C. Krenski

Derrick he was burned bad on the arms and hands a few years before he died & still had a lot of nerve pain that he apparently just couldn't deal with anymore.   He shot himself in the garage.  Very Sad.

Birth: March 14, 1952

Death: May 16, 1999

I loved Derek!  He was always funny and good-natured around me. He and I ran a successful little company in Junior Achievement, even though for the life of me I can't remember what our product was. Obviously it wasn't the greatness of our product that made us successful. It was Derek. He had a charming, outgoing personality that really drove our sales force. He was quick witted and had a new joke to tell me at every JA meeting. He put me at ease and made me feel confident, for which I will always be grateful.

Derek and I worked together during high school, at a gas station.  Bob Hart and Mike Hoorman also worked there.  We had some great times, in the evenings when it was slower, Derek would play his guitar and sing.  He wrote a song about our life at the station, none of which is suitable for posting here.   He married Mike Hoorman's sister.  I was shocked to hear of his passing.  He was one of the nicest people I ever knew.

Having just seen the flyer re: Barb and Greg Witges' son-in-law, I took a few minutes to peruse the Class of 70 website.  At least, I thought I'd devote just a few minutes, but it's approaching an hour now (and to make things worse, I'm at work!).  Anyway, the "In Memoriam" roses always catch my attention.  I should have written this some time ago re: Derek.  Derek's cousin lived across the street from me; it was always a treat when he would visit her.  I had a crush on Derek for a while, although I was too afraid to let anyone know; thought he was just so cute.   How sad it is that we couldn't tell others what they meant to us years ago.  However, I never miss the opportunity now.  Rest in Peace, Derek.

I loved Derek's personality and sense of humor.  We were lab partners in Chemistry (I think it was chemistry).  Anyway, he made a boring class very enjoyable.  We both had good grades in chemistry.  I am sorry to hear of his burns.  Doe anyone know how he was burned?  I am sorry to hear of his passing. He would've made smeone a great husband and father.
