Just wanted to write a short note to mark this spot and let Mike know that some one remembers. We never shared a class but did have the same homeroom a couple of times...maybe even a detention once or twice. We passed more in the halls, the varsity locker room, and after school athletic bus but I remember Mike enjoying a smile. You know, though the years have turned to decades, our bodies have aged (I am being kind), and Mike has left us; I still remember this indestructable young man laughing in his football jersey at lunch time...I think that's the memory I want to keep. See you later Mike....
I knew Mike in Junior High; he was a good athlete, a nice guy and good looking too. He married Terry(1971 graduate/cheerleader)& I think they had about 4 kids. In 1984, he was in the US Army as a Recruiter for Reserve Duty; he signed me up. I saw him once or twice after that. I had heard several years ago he had passed, but I never knew why......He was a good man
Mike was the first friend I had at Hazelwood after I transferred in from Cape Central in 68. Mike and I shared a speech class that first semester. The assignment was to tell a children's story. I picked Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
I unfortunately, acted out the different character parts of each and Mike really liked how I performed the Baby Bear part. Well, from that moment on Mike called me "Baby Bear." Could have been worse, he could have picked Goldilocks.
So many stories with Mike. I was fortunate to stay in touch with Mike after graduaqting for sometime and got meet his chhildren. I already knew his wife Terry...she was the best thing that ever happened to Miike. Terry loved him for him. Mike was a good man, a great friend, loving husband and father. I just wished he would have stopped smoking. See you Mike when its my time and I know I will be greeted with the words "Baby Bear." :) Love You Man.
