Randy passed away in August of 1987. I believe he had some type of stomach cancer. I last saw him at my wedding and remember how thin he looked. But, he was very upbeat and drove from Alabama to be at the wedding. He never told anybody that he was ill because he didn't want to worry anybody. He didn't even tell his parents until shortly before he died. He used to lisen to "I am a rock" by Simon and Garfunkel to give himself strength, or just to get through the day. Randy was a great guy and always had sense of humor. His last wish was to have the song "I am a rock played at his funeral". That was tough. I wish I could talked to him one last time before he went. I know he had many friends that felt the same way.

Randy was a great friend in high school, he loved the fifties era dances and is greatly missed. It was a huge funeral and "I am a Rock" played at the end, I have a hard time hearing that song ever since. His sister was also very ill with some type of cancer and he didn't want them to worry about him. He was in the military (I don't remember which branch) just before a medical release prior to his death. It is a great loss to our class, but rest assured if it's possible, Randy is hosting a reunion with all that can't be with us next year!!!

Randy was a good guy. Randy and I were in choir together in high school and at ICCC. I remember the time he and I went to a Japanese steak house during a music retreat that the ICCC music department had put together. The cook was frying something up and he asked what it was. The cook said "chicken livers" and he almost turned green. He had a great sense of humor and I could always make him laugh. He is missed.

Randy was a good guy. He was always friendly to everyone and always was going out of his way to make someone elses day and life better.
He was always there if there was works to be done.

Funny, Oh Yes he was funny, sometimes without even trying to be.

It was a Blessed to have known him.

Kelli Hamlow

My nickname to this day is Dewey! It's my friggin' email address, for pete's sake! Randy was part of the 'theatre scene' in high school and I worked on a couple of shows with him. One year there was a story in the FD Messenger regarding an upcoming theatre production at the high school and there was a misprint in the list of actors and it read Kelli Hamlow, Dewey.... They forgot to print his first name and my friends thought it would be funny to start referring to me as Kelli Hamlow Dewey. It stuck and they STILL address me as such! I proudly acquired and carry to this day the name Hamlow Dewey!

I am reminded of him every day. Love to him on the never-ending journey!
