What are some dates for the Reunion?

11/05/08 08:25 AM #3

Tony Collins

Adson had a good point in that state girls softball tournament time would limit hotel availability in Dodge, as well as same weekend of FDSH reunion (7/18 I think). July works for most folks typically, but August could work too maybe? People coming back to Iowa could incorporate the state fair into thier trip if we did it during that timeframe. (that'll be 2 cents please)

Does it have to be in Ft. Dodge?

Springer had an idea of the Shellabration on the 8th of August possibility of Foreigner playing....

Smitty, Shellabration is during Sturgis ya know. But I like the idea. I can always head to the mountains in July.

Nice job O'Brien, you misspelled your kid's name. It's PIERCE, not PEIRCE. Remember i before e. Sister Vivian would be ashamed of you!

Hey all, count me in on the reunion. I figure I should make one in my lifetime!

Hey everyone, a group of us will be getting together in FD on tuesday Nov 25th at the Sportspage at 6:30pm to catch up and talk about the reunion for this summer. Please come and join us, at least to just say hi. I think Mark C has a tab there so let's have some fun!

I heard Cahill has a lot of money so I'll be there charging my ass off.

I quit boozing and using years ago, but still know how to eat and charge to the crim account.

Crimmins and Cahill, both good Marks with a lot of coin. Glad they are stepping up for the Team, we appreciate it. Hope to see everyone at the SPORTSPAGE on Tues 25th at 6:30pm!

11/17/08 11:04 PM #13

Mark Cahill

Somebody may have to get their hearing checked if they heard I have some serious "coin". As much as I'd like to go and see you guys, I have to bow out of the Tuesday the 25th meeting I'll likely be at work while you guys toss some down.

Mark Crimmins

That's OK Cahill. Just make sure someone gets your visa number. We'll take pictures.

I will bring the camera to make sure Mark gets the pics for the card use. Sounds like a lot of the ladies will be the Tuesday also, thanks to Ms. Mona

Maybe some time could be set aside for a little poker? I'd like a shot at some of Bernards wealth before it gets 'redistributed'. (As long as none of Steves 'friends' show up to the game unannounced.) And if we're adding others to the class list, I'd like to nominate Dave Maher. He was directly or indirectly responsible for a lot of good times in those days and a lot of years after.

To all,

I am looking forward to the upcoming 30th reunion. Since I will not be able to make it to the 1st planning next Tuesday here are some points to consider.

• Date Those mentioned are all fine. Over the State fair would allow those traveling to make a vacation of it. July 4th is also good. The idea when Foreigner would be in town is also intriguing. In the end if I plan to attend I will make it a priority. Getting a date set and listed ASAP will allow for me to schedule.
• Location In Ft. Dodge would be best. It offers those with local family to see/stay with them. Is the spot the 20th was held still open for business? How about the hall near the Fort Museum/Friendship Haven? How about the shelter house at Kennedy Park where we had the senior class picnic? Are their facilities large enough? One draw back is the distance and with any location that should be kept in mind since we will likely have beer. Based on recent publicity I don’t think the Quality Inn is an option!
• Number of Days Single verses multiple days. If only one day I suggest casual/informal. That would allow for a more relaxed socializing. If we choose two days should we keep it casual or go for a dressier event?
• Food For the casual/informal day I recommend a sandwich bar or snack type food. (Make it easy.) If a formal 2nd day is added we may want to consider a catered meal.
• Activities It is rumored that Foreigner may be in town next summer. If that date is chosen I would prefer two nights to gather as the concert would limit socializing. Jim Grall mentioned playing poker. What about golf? Many have never seen the addition of K-8 grades at St. Edmonds, how about a tour of the building? Would the class want to gather at one of the Church’s for a Mass?
• Communication/Publicity This has been very good so far. The web site is great. Thanks to Doug Smith for his hard work! Communication is vital to the success of this reunion. My wife had her 30th this past summer and the attendance was poor. Less that 20% attended in part to many not knowing about things soon enough. So every one spread the word. Make that call and let others know about our plans!

I hope to make future planning events when possible. To those who do make the planning session thanks for getting things going.

Jeff

Here are a couple ideas to consider when plannng, how about extending an invetation to classes 78 & 80 for one night of the reunion? Jim wrote how he would like to see an old friend and this might be a way to share a story/laugh with others that were apart of our lives. The inventation could go out in the St Edmond news letter or local media. Would the date be better during the summer or how about during one of the other city celebrations such as Fall Fest or even at St.Eds homecoming. If we chose homecomming it would be easy to see other years graduates.

Foreigner is playing here in Honolulu for 2009 New Year's Eve so I'll let you know how they sound if I can remember the next day.

Ladies and Gentlemen...sounds like a great gathering was had and Labor Day weekend is a "tentative" date. Foriegner is good Dave, but, not quite the Foriegner that Yogi missed out on in '76. New lead singer, however, Styx and Def Leppard rounded out the 3 band show and were all very good, Def Leppard being the best, whom I was never a big fan of in the day...I guess they came along a little later and the "one armed" drummer is phenomenal. None could match the great Rush, however, & the vocals of the great Getty Lee, which had slipped ever so slightly, I enjoyed the 3 plus hours from very close just like it was '75,'76 or '77, whenever I/we saw them. Would go again tomorrow...Greatness!!! Looking forward to more communication, props to DS, TC, GW and any others responsible for getting this website off of the ground. Look forward to catching up with all and dinner on the MCr credit card which I am "sure" I am due!
Stay hard and in touch all, God Bless, Happy Holidays, from all of the "Clems"

Does anyone know who Jacqualine Watters is? I see she is on the class list. Checked the 1978 and 1979 yearbook but did not see her.

Mark Crimmins

That would be Jackie Hensch who lives right here in Dodge with you Ad. You really need to get out more.

12/09/08 11:05 PM #23

Gary Wiedenfeld

Doug, you may want to combine those two separate names into one human - Jackie Hensch (Watters)?

Doug,
Scott Bundt (he caters out of Sac City) called back finally. He said he could do Labor Day and his price for
the meal below is $5.00/plate plus $50.00 travel. The sample meal I gave him was like what we served at the weddings for our girls: Pork loin, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, pasta salad, fruit salad, and roll with butter. The plates, napkins, silverware, cups, coffee, punch, BQ sauce, salt, pepper, and they serve it. Let me know what you guys decide. I told him we thought about 100 people, he won't need the total until closer to the time.

Those sound like pretty damn reasonable prices to me. And who the heck doesn't like pork loin? Can we assume they would add/change that menu if desired? Maybe we should lock in to a price before the economy goes even deeper in the sh#t hole and they raise 'em!
