Sherry Cook

 

Sherry D. Cook, 47, of Fort Dodge, peacefully entered into God's heavenly home, Friday, May 15th, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House, after fighting her two year battle with cancer, with both her family and friends near her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May, 19th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may call 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday where there will be a Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters of Americas Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a vigil at 6:00 p.m.

Sherry was born on November 5, 1961 in Freeport, Illinois to Dale and Dorothy (Karns) Cook. Sherry is survived by her lovely mother Dorothy Cook Fort Dodge, brothers Gary (Deb) Cook, Larry (Lori) Cook, of Moorland, Gery Cook, and Terry Cook both of Fort Dodge, sisters, Mary (Tony) Sunken, and Keri Cook both of Fort Dodge; nieces, Nicole Hagar, Ashley (Jeff) Dockendorf, Jennifer and Erica Cook, and Jessica and Shelby Sunken, nephews; Toby(Amber) Anderson, Nick and Nolan Hagar, Gene Morwitzer, great nephew, Cody Anderson; great nieces Alexis and Makenna Anderson; special friend Tim Clark, and many dear friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her father Dale Cook, Grandparents Ellsworth and Willetta Cook and James and Winifred Karns, and several aunts and uncles.

Sherry loved spending her time at the Twin Lakes Home with her family and friends. She was always willing to help anyone. She was a Registered Nurse for many years working at Trinity Regional Medical Center, and also being a traveling nurse. She was working at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville until becoming ill in 2007. Sherry will be greatly missed.
