Dorothy "Dommy" M. Hilmert, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at her home in Fort Wayne. Born in Singapore, Dommy was a world traveler at an early age. She graduated from South Side High School and earned her masters degree in history from the University of Michigan. She was a history teacher at South Side High School. She retired from teaching to raise her growing family. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister. Dommy and her family enjoyed spending time at their lake house in Canada and their condo in Florida for many years. Her warm heart and love for bringing the best out of everyone will surely be missed. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Kappa Kappa Gamma. Surviving are her children Laura J. "Laurie" Hilmert of Saint Louis, MO, James M. Hilmert of Chicago, IL; sister, Mary Anne "Maggy" Graham of Bloomfield, CT and brother, James W. (Barbara) Graham of Indianapolis, IN. Dommy was preceded in death by her parents Dr. George and Edith Jean Graham, and husband, James E. "Jim" Hilmert. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church-McMillen Chapel, 300 W. Wayne St. with Rev. Laura Sherwood officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road Friday, February 19, 2016, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
