Craig S. Jones

Craig Jones, 73, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

Craig was a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg and a graduate of James Monroe High School. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. 

Craig operated The Sub Shop in Fredericksburg for many years. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #875 and a charter member of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania Eagles. Craig was also a member of the Knights of Pythias, Moose, VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed all sports and was a loyal Redskins fan through the good and the ugly. 

Survivors include his beloved wife, Lavelle; sons Daryl Jones and Michael Cox; daughter-in-law Diana; granddaughter Veronica; sister Joanne Doggett and husband Donald; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His furry friends, Squirrely and Uno will miss his morning petting session. He was predeceased by his parents, John Jones and Elaine Morgan Jenkins.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. 

A service will be held at noon on Monday, June 11 at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In his memory, sympathy expressions may be made by flowers or a donation to the Fredericksburg SPCA. Additionally, to honor Craig’s memory and provide the gift of life, please consider being an organ donor.
