    50 Year Reunion - A Great Success!

A Review of Fifty Years Compressed into 60 Seconds
Bob McCreery
August 2010
Fifty years ago, or was it just yesterday? How time flies, people often say
We walked across the stage and held that diploma tight,
Twelve long years had come and gone, that was a special night.
We left dear old Freeport High, we had hopes, and we had dreams,
Some of them came true, others didn’t it seems.
Reality came knocking after graduation day,
Some days were sunny and bright, others cloudy and grey.
But we weathered the storms, because we’re made that way.
Some of us got married, started families; it was the American way,
We watched our kids grow up, we watched them go away.
We walked our daughters down the aisle (to marry a guy that wasn’t good enough) but she was happy and that made us smile.
Our son’s chose brides that made us proud (OR NOT) just maybe he could have done better we thought. But they were in love, they said “We’ll make it and they did.
Then stopped by one day and asked, Can you say GRANDKID?
Wow! Grandkids, if you got em, Nuff said, greatest creation since sliced bread!
So, we’ve run the cycle and now here we are, some of you live close, some came from afar.
We’re here to celebrate the past 50 years, so tonight put away your cares and fears.
Some of you are survivors, you’ve been put to the test, you’re here tonight and we wish you the best.
29 of our classmates are no longer with us that make us sad, I bet they’re smiling down on us tonight, and that should make us glad.
So, LET’S REMEMBER, LET’S REMINISCE, LET’S RECONNECT.
Let’s celebrate us, the Freeport High Class of 1960!
