Mark Arrington

Mark Arrington

Mark Stephen Arrington, 63, passed away May 24, 2015, at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., from complications from diabetes and multiple strokes. He is now with his Father and his dad in Heaven.

Mark was a longtime resident of Freeport, Lake Jackson and Dallas. He worshiped at Prestoncrest Church of Christ.

Born Jan. 23, 1952, in Freeport to parents Matt Culum Arrington and Laura Louise (English) Arrington, Mark graduated from Brazosport High School in 1970, then from Brazosport College, where he was voted Mr. B.C.

He was a City Secretary of Freeport and an employee of the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District and the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce. Mark also enjoyed his many years as a Rotarian. He later thrived as a title examiner – including the last 25 years for Stewart Title in the Dallas area.

A lifeguard in Freeport and a radio deejay in Brazoria County and Houston, Mark also announced Brazosport Exporters football games at Hopper Field for many seasons.

Mark was an avid collector of music, movies and books, with a photographic memory of U.S. politics and presidents, the movie industry and world geography. He loved to travel, having been to five continents.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark is survived by his mother Laura; sister Karen Jordan and brother-in-law David Jordan, all of Farmington, N.M.; brother Ronald Arrington of Houston; niece Lauren Jordan of Tempe, Ariz.; uncle Ed English of Austin; two aunts by marriage; and many cousins.

No services are planned.

He was a wonderful human being.  I was a disc jockey for awhile.  Mark was a natural.  He had a great natural ability to speak and the personality to go with it.  My heartfelt condolences go out to his friends and family.

Sincerely,

Murray Griffin

I was shocked to read about Mark's passing.  Mark was such a gentleman.  He was a fine example of a Christian brother.  He will be missed greatly by those that had the privilege to know him.

I am shocked and sadden to hear about the passing of Mark. Not only was he a nice guy, and loved by all who knew him - he was my friend. I grew up with Mark living next door, as a child, a teenager, a classmate, but most of all - a friend. We spent many times at each other's house, growing up - and stayed in touch with him, over the years. We were as close as two friends could be. I will miss him, but he will not be forgotten - and all the fun times we had, growing up. My heart goes out to all of his family, but most of all - his mother, his sister & his brother. May God bless this family, in their time of sorrow. Henry Maresh -
