Have decided to retire in May, 2019
Have had enough of current administration and their thinking of how to teach. I do not fit their agenda. I am too old school, believe in hands on problem solving as I was taught. Also, starting to battle a couple of health issues, most minor but do have a couple that are/will be major issues as time passes.


After BHS, attended Blinn College in Brenham, earning an AA degree. Transferred to Lamar U. in Beaumont where I met my wife Nan. Married in August 1974. Went to work for Civil Engineering firm as a land surveyor. In 1979 went to work at Gulf Oil Refinery-Port Arthur as a machinist. Layed off in 1992, returned to Lamar to complete BAAS degree. I now teach 8th grade math and Algebra I at C. O. Wilson Middle School in Nederland. I also teach a remedial College Algebra class at the Mark Stiles Prison for Lamar State College-Port Arthur. In spare time I bowhunt and shoot in archery tournments around the state. I was selected Secondary Teacher of the Year for NISD in 2008, have attended Honeywell Space Academy and Honeywell Advanced Space Academy for Educators. On my Facebook there are pictures of me at Advanced Academy, one of me as Commander of the Space Shuttle during one of our simulated missions. I was allowed to land the shuttle in the simulator, was able to put the shuttle down twice safely without crashing! In July, 2011, I was one of 56 public school teachers to fly on NASA's Vomit Comet out of Ellington Field in Houston. We did 34 parabola's where we experianced what it fills like to be weightless and to weigh 2 G's. Did not get sick!!!. Experiment was to observe the effect of microgravity and 2G on oil and water. Question was: Will they mix or stay seperate? Will present at international educator conference in Feb at NASA-JSC in Houston.

High School was good. Best remember the night Brazosport beat Galveston Ball on Oct 31, 1969. They were number 3 in the state and we were 1-5 for the year at that time. Pretty rough ride home, they were not very happy.
