Obituary of Laura Dianne Claburn

Laura Dianne Rabon Claburn of Pearland, TX was born September 8, 1951 in Sugar Land, Texas to James A. Rabon and Helen K. Rabon. She passed away on February 27, 2024 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Pearland, Texas.

She graduated from Brazosport High School in 1970 and attended Southwest Texas State University for 2 years. She worked in Houston for a number of years and joined the U. S. Navy in 1983, served for 4 years and was in the reserves for 2. Her daughter Elena was born in 1986 while Laura was stationed in Pensacola, Florida. After being discharged from the Navy, Laura moved back to her hometown of Lake Jackson, Texas for a short time. She moved to Houston and began working for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center for 24 years and retired in 2011. She lived the rest of her life in Pearland to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, James A. Rabon and Helen K. Rabon. She is survived by her daughter Elena Ruth Claburn, her grandchildren Ethan Cash Capetillo, Harper Elliott Capetillo and Maverick Layne Capetillo, her brother, James A. Rabon, Jr. (Jody Rabon), and her sisters, Candace Wallace (John Wallace) and Sheryl Cody (Carlton Cody), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Laura attended Bellaire Church of Christ for 35 years and had many close friends and loved ones in her church community. She loved dogs and had several over the years She enjoyed doing crafts, especially Creative Memories scrapbooking. She put together a beautiful heritage album for the family. She was a member of a group called SOS composed of members of her high school girlfriends. They met for fun activities and fellowship. She loved to cook and always contributed something delicious for family gatherings and friends.

A Celebration of Laura's Life will be held on Monday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. (visitation at 10:00 a.m.) followed by a reception at Earthman Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet in Bellaire Texas. Interment will be at Rabon Chapel Cemetery (formerly Cartwright Cemetery) in Montgomery, Texas
