2020 REUNION

REUNION WEEKEND: Oct 9 – 11, 2020

REUNION COST
Ticket prices have been set at $60.00 per person if paid before September 1st.  After September 1st, ticket prices are $70.00.   Please make checks payable to:

Brazosport Class of 1970 and mail to:  604 Briarwilde Ct; Alvin, TX  77511

As we do every 5 years, your reunion committee has worked hard to keep prices as low as possible and still provide a nice event for the class.   Inflation has hit our venues, caterers and fixed costs just as it has in everyday life.  Therefore, we do have a slight increase since the 45th reunion.   We look forward to seeing you all in October 2020!!

GOLF OUTING – SATURDAY, OCT 10th   10:00 am

WILDERNESS COURSE - LJ

NOTE THE DATE CHANGE!   Wilderness has a tournament on Friday and therefore Hal has been able to switch the date to Saturday.  If you haven’t already done so, HAL SCOGGINS is your contact to sign up.  He can be reached at hal@scogginsweb.net  or by text to 713-553-7496.   Several of the classmates keep in touch on class creator and have already been signing up.  As of this publication there are approximately 15 golfers playing.   Get in touch with Hal and let him know if you want to join in a friendly game of golf.

FRIDAY NIGHT GATHERING – OCT 9TH

BRIDGE HARBOR  -   6:30 pm till (closing if you want)

There will be an opportunity to reconnect with your classmates at Bridge Harbor Marina on Friday night.   Food & Drinks available for purchase.  You can NOT bring in your own alcohol or food.   Come comfortable, relax, listen to music and catch up with old (but young at heart) friends.

SATURDAY MORNING – VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

9:00 AM    -    CIVIC CENTER – LJ

Want to help out with the reunion?  Meet at the Civic Center at 9:00 am to help set up for the main event that evening.  The more the merrier and the faster we finish and can enjoy a free afternoon of exploring the old hometowns and maybe a little toes in the sand or wherever your memories carry you.

SATURDAY NIGHT – THE MAIN EVENT

6:00 pm – 11:00 pm  - CIVIC CENTER – LJ

Time has been moved up since last post.  This is in order that we gather everyone in the courtyard for a class picture before things get kicked off.  This will be the only full class picture taken during the evening.   Dance or just enjoy the old & newer favorites– Music managed by our own Kurt Ruthstrom;  Food – Catered by On The River;  BYOB (beer, liquor or wine) – set ups & ice; soft drinks & water provided.   Photographer at the event throughout for photos, group shots.   Plenty of time, space and comfort to gather, mix and mingle.

SUNDAY MORNING – CHURCH SERVICE

2nd Baptist – 201 Garland – Lake Jackson

Please join us at 9:45 am for coffee, donuts and fellowship to be followed by the worship service at 10:30.   Our classmate, Lee Bryant will be leading the service. Jim Barnes and Donna Stankovich will be providing special music.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The area has grown a bit in the past 50 years and there are several hotels available.    We recommend you Google hotels in the Lake Jackson area and/or The Brazosport Chamber of Commerce.  Make your reservations early.  Due to the rapid growth in industry the past few years, hotels may be limited and several have only limited rooms with cancellation clauses available.   Of course there are always beach houses to be found and any number of rental agencies that can be contacted if you may have a group that wants to go that route.    Whichever way you go -  BOOK EARLY to ensure you get your first choice of accommodations.

QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS
If you have any questions or comments about the information posted, please respond using the MESSAGE FORUM section in our class website.  Your comments and questions will be taken back to the full committee at our monthly meetings to address.

We are actively seeking volunteers to help set up on Saturday; work brief stints at the registration table, etc.   If you want to help and/or have an area of interest to volunteer, please also let us know via the MESSAGE FORUM section.  About 15 classmates volunteered via a survey on the class website months ago and we will be reaching out to them.   More folks would be great!   Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have questions that are not answered through the class website 2020 reunion tab or by way of message forum, you can email hal@scogginsweb.net.   Hal will redirect them to the appropriate reunion team member or subcommittee.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The area has grown a bit in the past 50 years and there are several hotels available – some centrally located to the Civic Center and not too far from Bridge Harbor Marina.    We recommend you google hotels in the Lake Jackson area and/or The Brazosport Chamber of Commerce.  Research them and make your reservations early.  Due to the rapid growth in industry the past few years, there is very high demand for housing and hotels for the influx of workers in the area.  Hotels may be limited and several have only limited rooms with cancellation clauses available.   Of course there are always beach houses to be found and any number of rental agencies that can be contacted if you may have a group that wants to go that route.    Whichever way you go -  BOOK EARLY to ensure you get your first choice of accommodations.

QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS

If you have any questions or comments about the information posted, please respond using the MESSAGE FORUM section in class creator.  With that said we’d remind everyone that we are providing further details as they are available and that some things are still being worked out.  Your comments and questions will be taken back to the full committee at our monthly meetings to address.

If you want to help and/or have an area of interest to volunteer, please also let us know via the MESSAGE FORUM section.  Thanks so much!

October 10, 2020

Lake Jackson Civic Center

Your committee continues planning for the weekend of OCT 9 -  11, 2020 !

Mark your calendars!  More info to come as plans are finalized.

We need your help!!  264 of our classmates are on the “missing” list on our website.  This means they have not gone to the link and signed up, providing their contact information.  Please take a few minutes to peruse the “Missing Classmates” page.  If you see people you know please reach out to them personally and encourage them to go sign up.

If they have difficulty, all they have to do is select the Contact Us link at the top of the page, state they are having trouble signing up, and someone will get in contact with them, probably within 24 hours.
