Barney Lee Pinion

Barney Lee Pinion

July 7, 1956 - October 15, 1991

Barney Lee Pinion was the son of Rosie Lee Pinion. He and his wife Tammy lived in Clayton at the time of his death. His father had passed away by then.

Barney's survivors include his wife, Tammy Clifton Pinion; a stepson, Chase Langdon; his mother, Rosie Lee Pinion of Fuquay-Varina; grandmother, Edith Cotton Pinion of Fuquay-Varina; one brother, Montie George Pinion of Newport; two sisters, Mrs. Eller Carr of Fuquay-Varina and Linda Holland of New Hill.

I first remember Barney from Miss Spence's class in 4th grade - she paired us up for doing math together. Although I eventually ended up majoring in math, that was my first hint that teaching math was not my strong suit. I reckon Barney could have told me that way back then. My other memory is that Barney's daddy worked at the ice plant near Wake Chapel Church. My daddy was a big fan of hand-churned ice cream, and that was the place to go for crushed "block ice" and rock salt. I have such fond memories of those summertime trips to get ice - we always saw Barney there - and the result was homemade ice cream - usually in the Marley's back yard.

Barney is buried at Greenlawn in Fuquay.
