Married Barry Young after high school (boo, hiss!!) and lived in Utah, MS, and OK before coming back to Kansas. Lost 180 lbs of unpleasant husband, went to Allen Co Comm College, and graduated from KU. Gained 175 lbs of new husband with Terry. We had moved to Ottawa, and had Molly in Dec 1991...the best Christmas gift EVER!! :)
When she was nine months old I started working at the East Central KS Area Agency on Aging, and am in my 18th year there. It's been an incredible experience, and I've enjoyed helping to shape policy where older adults are concerned. I've created and implemented programs, and have enjoyed the challenges.
Terry's daughters are both married and moms, and it has been tremendous fun being M&M to Owen, Orra, and Spencer. Josh made me a gma in July '09, and I am plain silly about that boy...he lives in northern California, so I don't get to see them as often as I'd like. We got a 5 generation picture before Christmas, so I may try to post it.
I stay busier than I'd like sometimes, but am pulling back from some things as Terry's had some health issues. Molly becomes a graduate and plans to get her bachelor's in nursing. Lots of change on the horizon...
Rather than change what's been happening, I'll just add to it. I left my job the end of Sept., '10, to be at home with Terry and write. His health took a major hit in '10 with thyroid cancer and an adrenal gland mass, so it seemed to be tempting fate to keep working while he was still here. My plans are to turn our experiences into a caregiving book, helping caregivers be better advocates for their own benefit and effectiveness. That will be my primary focus for 2011. Our daughter, Molly, decided to stay at home her first year of college given her dad's health challenges, and plans to transfer to Pitt State after obtaining a few more pre-reqs through Neosho County Comm College. It's been a real joy continuing to have her at home. We're all on Facebook, and would love to hear from folks out there we've not seen or heard from for a while.
