This information is included in the Memory book that Cookie made for us, but some of you may not have one.

Ruby was only at Laurelwood for her Senior year, and was on the quiet side, but always had a ready smile. She had quite an amazing life, so a brief outline of her accomplishments is appropriate.

She graduated from Pacific Union College as an elementary teacher, and taught one year in California. The following year, she began her almost lifelong career in foreign mission service, teaching primary school in Karachi, Pakistan.During one of her furloughs, she completed a Master's Degree at Andrews University.

Following Karachi, she went to Beirut, Lebanon, again teaching primary school. She then returned to the USA and taught a church school in Delano, California, for five years. Her next destination was an extended mission stint of 17 years in Kenya, Africa, at a teacher training school.

In Kenya, she became involved in placing orphan children and ended up adopting two little girls herself. One was only eight days old when adopted, and the other was one year old. When her girls, Carolyn and Teresia, were three and four years old, Ruby requested permanent return to the USA. She settled in Weimar Ca.

In 2003, she was found dead in her apartment there. An autopsy was done,, as it was totally unexpected, but no real obvious cause was found. She had appointed a Guardian for her girls, fortuantely, so they are able to persue their educational goals. One is now a Senior at La Sierra College and the other will graduate from Great Lakes Academy this year.

Ruby had an interesting and useful life, leaving as legacy two girls whom she has given the opportunity of improved lives. We can be proud to have had her as a classmate and member of the Class of '56!
