Babs and I grew up a block apart. Our parents were great friends. I remember her gentle and kind nature and terrific smile. I once drove my mom's car into the back of Judge Sanders' parked Cadillac whenI was 16 while I was watching Babs walk down the sidewalk! Not cool. And way hard to explain to her when she rushed over to see if I was OK.  She made evryone she talked to feel special. She left us when she was so very young.

Babs... Your name was one of the very first I looked for in this beautiful site Gene created.

We often cannot explain why some people get closer to our hearts than others.

You did touch my heart, and I feel very sorry I could never meet you again since I left Gastonia.

II remember Barbara well,, She saved my butt several times while in Mrs. Culp's English class. We were divided into commitees of three people to do an English bulletin board. Barbara, Starleen Martin, and I were on the same commitee. For some reason which I can't recall, we forgot to do our assignment. But Barbara did the bulletin board and gave all of us the credit. That is my favorite memory of her. She was exceptionally giving of herself..   Jim McDonald

I grew up with Babs at our church, Holy Trinity Lutheran. We sung together in our youth choirs and met each Sunday night at Youth Fellowship. Babs was one of the sweetest individuals that I have ever met! I had a crush on her, but one of my closest friends had dibbs on her first! I know for a fact that he NEVER got over her death! I will never forget her loving and caring smile and I know she is with our Savior up above!!!
