We will update information about the reunion here, so check it out once in a while.

  • Reunion took place June 5-8, 2014

  • We filled Shea cottage, and since the Class of 1954 filled McKinnon, some of our classmates stayed in Crossley.

  • If you have pictures from the 55th reunion that we can add to the photo gallery, please contact Betty Hinkley (bettyhinkley@gmail.com)

  • Three of our classmates gave presentations in the Alumni Classroom on Friday: Karen Forslund Falb, Steve Cohen and Frank Partel

  • Three classmates played golf on Friday afternoon (rained out Thursday): Randy Foster, Rick Goodrich, Victoria Travis, and they were joined by Randy's son.
  • Steve Cohen led a Shabbat on Friday evening to a diverse group of alumni, outside Social Hall, complete with wine and bread, which provided a perfect ending to the day.  Charlie Wantman sang the Northfield Benediction in Hebrew (the first of many times during the weekend) and we all sang it in English. We are hoping to add Shabbat to Alumni weekend ongoing.?
  • The class of 1959 had a private, catered dinner at Shea Cottage on Saturday night (thanks to Randy Foster for arranging this) - party time! This was followed by an informal class meeting, MC'd by Tom Baxter.  The school presented a plaque to Jim Kondras (honorary class of 59 member) for his many years of holding the Friends of Bill W. and Dr. Bob meetings during reunion weekend. The class presented both Barb and Jim with NMH hats (which we all signed) for their dedicated service to the Class of 59 reunions over the years.  The party then moved inside and we were entertained by Dave Winchester (keyboard), Steve Knapp (guitar, voice), Clark Peters (guitar) and Charlie Wantman (amazing voice) - awesome entertainment!

  • Come to our 60th reunion!

Some words from Clark Peters, who inspired us to contribute generously to the school for our 50th reunion:

Dear classmates,

I trust you are looking forward to our 55th re-union next June as much as I and hope to see you there. Always wonderful to renew friendships that now extend more than fifty years!  You know that for our 50th, I led a campaign to raise more money for the school than any reunion class had ever done before.  Thanks to a terrific team to help me, and your generosity, we accomplished that goal.  I am through with those kind of campaigns until our 75th re-union.  That does not mean that we can ignore the school’s needs between then and now.  You know that tuition, even if we had no scholarship students, does not cover annual operating costs.  That means the school depends heavily on the annual fund to close the short-fall.  So you will not have to put up with me (or my team) pestering you in the future.  That said, I know I can count on you to respond to the annual fund reminders sent by the school.  We (the class of 59) are known as a great class, in part, for our support since graduation.  Let’s keep that part of our reputation alive.  Thank you.

Best regards and see you next year!

Clark

For our 55th reunion, we are aiming for record-setting participation!  See the letter below from Nancy, John and Pete.

Thoughts on “giving” for our 55th Reunion – Nancy Goode Treadwell

The class of 2014 at NMH is just completing its education, learning life lessons, and forging what will be lifelong friendships.  They have been challenged as a class to have 100% participation in giving back to the school.

The class of '59 has had 55 years to reflect on the education, life lessons and friendships we gained during our years at Mount Hermon and Northfield.   I believe for many our experiences were life changing.

On behalf of all the Gift Chairs: Pete Crumb and John Warn and myself, I am issuing a challenge to '59ers.  Let's see if we can match the class of 2014 in our % of giving.  We don't have the challenge of a large class gift as we did for the 50th; what we are aiming for now is participation.  (We realize some are still paying on our pledges for the 50th.)  Let's set an example that will awe the other classes, as we did with our 50th Reunion Gift.  Let's set the bar high and go for 100% participation.  Each of you is important and your giving has been amazing in the past.  Your contribution is important, no matter the amount.  It’s easy to give Online; go to
https://community.nmhschool.org/annualfund

NOTE: If you wish to contribute to something other than the Annual Fund, there is a space where you can enter “Comments” and you can ask to have your money given to another fund – e.g. the Class of 1959 50th Reunion Scholarship Fund or one of the special funds listed at http://www.nmhschool.org/capital-and-special-projects

 So let's do it - 100% participation!  Go '59 !!!!!!!!!!
