A 45 year Anniversary 2023

in

VEGAS

The Sexagenarian 'BIG 60' B-Day Bash or 45 Year Anniversary Reunion in Vegas isn't about:

Waistlines, Hairlines, or Credit lines...
It's about Lifelines
It's about reconnecting with our friends from some of the best years of our lives...
It's about caring for our classmates, teachers and their families - our families!
- Remember -
We're not getting older...We're becoming a classic!
Reconnect with someone today, you'll be glad you did!
There is plenty of natural beauty to see and do just minutes outside of Paradise

Ladies and Gentlemen ...

"IT'S TIME !"

YOUR OBJECTIVE:
Vegas is an easy destination for almost anyone
So,
It's Time to dust your 'Sexagenarian' butt off,
enjoy, relax, laugh, regress,
bring your family, meet up with classmates, friends or fly solo!
Reconnect with your group from those wonder years
Sure the CPI Inflation is at 8.5%, 9.5%, 16.4% ...but who's counting?
If you start squirreling away a nest egg now, you too, can 'let go'
In the literal sense of F-U-N (not from incontenance)
IN OUR 50's
We got the AARP card in the mail and it felt like a kick in the gut…
Until we realized how many awesome discounts
we were about to get ... (yeah right!)
Now, in our 60's some of us are collecting Social Security
Vegas is for everyone, you don't even have to gamble
There is a plethora of things to do and see without losing your shirt
However, bring some money to Vegas...
Because
It’s the perfect place to get into just the right amount of trouble without
anyone recognizing you’re somewhat a respectable member of society!
(emphasis on somewhat)
Think about it...
You can put yourself in the most hilarious and
questionable scenarios that no one will care about,
however, it might make your children and others cringe!
Come out and play!
Besides all the Neon and LED
There's a ton of natural beauty within a half hour of Vegas
(See 'BIG 60' or '45' Vegas Links on left panel or click the link below)
And
You'll have a ton of fun until the cops show up,
then, we'll play hide 'n seek
- Caveat Emptor -
'What you do in Vegas' gets posted on the internet forever!
IN OUR 60s
Most of us are not about a fussy lifestyle...
We'd rather have good food, a good time with good people
and
without the stuffy atmosphere!
Hang Loose for one of the last great times our class may have
2023 is here before you can say 'Las Vegas'

Remember ...
Life is fleeting
Don't miss the
Sexagenarian 'BIG 60' Birthday Bash/45 Year Anniversary Reunion
Times like these will happen Once in your lifetime!

If your a Vegas virgin,
You'll find the first time in Vegas is unlike any other experience in one’s life.
The virgin trip to Vegas is one of the most memorable moments in the life of everyone
Now is your chance
Not only did you earn it, but you deserve it!
and when it's said and done...
You'll be glad you did it!
The memories will last the rest of your life
You'll be with friends and family
Fun Fact:
Las Vegas actually means, "The Meadows"

'BIG 45' Anniversary Fling
SAVE THE DATES TBD
This may be pushed to summer, fall or December 2023

Do you have questions? Never been to Vegas? You don't know where to start?
or are you a
Ask Richard, Brad or myself

So, why Vegas and what's the plan?
For various reasons some did not travel back to Glenview for the 40th Reunion in 2018
Understandable, we all have our daily lives and activities
This is more of an informal 3-4 days/nights (maybe longer) of F-U-N
Realistically, perhaps one of the last of the good meets we may have
Besides, who wants to wait 6 Years until 2028? or 8 years for 2030?
We are in the process of planning mini meets (gatherings, outings, parties)
in Las Vegas (down town area) and in and outside of Paradise (strip area)
There's also a plethora of free or inexpensive things to do and see
Just a short ride from Paradise is Natural Majestic Beauty:
Red Rocks hiking (mild to intense), climbing & picknicking,
or driving, Blue Mound, Bonnie Springs,
Mt. Charleston, Grand Canyon West Rim,  Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire,
Sky Diving, Helocopter tour, Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Botanic Garden, Area 51
The Mormon Fort, Tule Springs, Clark County Museum, Mob Museum, Route 66, etc.
Las Vegas is a central hub (flying wise)
that has just about everything one could ask for and then some...
Be it for general meets or to see others that don't have a reason or wish to return to Glenview
and lastly...
Why not get out of Dodge?
If the children are grown or you're solo, enjoy some vacay and company
You Deserve it!
Damn the economy and viruses, full speed ahead!

We have alum Richard Daniels who lives in the Las Vegas area and is our
'Official Liason'
Richard a Captain Pilot for United Airlines
Flying the LA to Vegas route over 30+ years!
No, really - So what's in store?
It depends on how long you'll be in town.
If it's your 1st trip, it will be over-whelming.
Perhaps even mind blowing with the ostentacious exhuberance
There is too much to see and do in a limited amout of days.
But, don't worry, we can help with any questions you may have.
If you're a seasoned visitor (Vegas Degen), then you know how fast things change in Vegas.

Planning doesn't take as long as it used to thanks to all the social media!
If you would like to help with the 45th Anniversary Reunion let us know

Here are the top 10 reasons to come to your 45th Anniversary Reunion

1. It’s a Chance to see your friends
If you live out west, east or out of the country or just out of Crook County
Chances are pretty good that you will see some classmates you haven't seen  in a while.
Especially, if you are one of the many who moved away
Reunions create a wonderful way to visit with friends after many years of only social messaging or phone calls
A Reunion is also the kids you grew up with. Seeing them brings it all back.
Make those phone calls now to others to join in and to stir the 'Interest Bowl' in getting this done!
We are looking at 2023 to celebrate a 45 year Anniversary Reunion
2. Reconnecting with former classmates
Maybe there was a classmate you were too shy to talk to (they were probably shy as well),
or a former girlfriend or boyfriend you’d love to see again.
Reunions offer a chance to see how people have changed and/or remained the same.
Is there someone you can’t wait to bump into at your high school reunion?
They say old flames never go out!
3. A Chance for Closure
Obviously, high school wasn’t a perfect experience for everyone.
If any feelings of regret or missed opportunities linger, reunions offer a chance to apologize and make amends.
Try to get closure before you eat or drink. It helps with digestion and stability.
4. Everyone Needs a Little Support Sometimes
Maybe a classmate is going through a tough time at the moment.
No matter what the reason is, your classmates need a support system, and sometimes a familiar face is who you can count on. When people come together to help someone, it often brings out the best in everyone involved.
5. Attrition
Let's face it, we don't move as fast as we used to.
In fact some of us are going through some rough times with all sorts of issues.
The day after the 35th year reunion we had a classmate pass. I was reminiscing with him on the patio of PCJ's the night before.
I just found out about two classmates this past winter, another this spring.
Life is too DAMN SHORT !
The downside of the class website is adding classmates and teachers to the 'In Memoriam' pages.
So, come out for the 45th and enjoy! It will be a great get together !
6. It’s Fun Getting the Gang Back Together
Reunions are a perfect time to reunite those friendships.
Most of us haven’t had much time to stay as in touch with our high school friends as much as we thought we would.
Today, you can rediscover the personality quirks that made you love your friends so much.
Getting together for yourself and others is what this is all about, great times with great memories!
7. It’s Fun, weird and Interesting to Compare Facebook, Instagram etc. to Reality
Many use Facebook to post the beautiful moments in life, which is wonderful. But what about the rest?
The great thing about meeting face-to-face is the opportunity to delve into how friends are really doing in their lives.
Your classmates want to relate to each other on a deeper level than sharing pictures of kids and pets
Reunions are perfect for sparking those connections.
8. Seeing Former Teachers and Staff aka: Professional Babysitters
It’s always great to see teachers and staff at a reunion!
You're all invited too!
Even though you’re now an adult, you’ll still feel the need to address them as Mr. or Mrs.
Many people enjoy reconnecting with the mentors who shaped their lives.
9. A Night or Weekend Away From the Kids or Grandkids and GreatGrandkids
Being a parent or grandparent is incredible and wonderful, but sometimes you need a little break – don’t tell your kids!
Spending sometime away and talking to friends about some of the best days of your life is a wonderful way to relax.
It will be fun laughing the night away, talking about those awkward times and inappropriate things you did or said back then.
10. There’s Nothing Wrong with a Little Nostalgia
Ah, the good old days.
We dressed how we wanted, ignored our weekend curfews, and listened to Abbey Road until the record player broke!
Right Don?
Many of our classmates want nothing more than to sit back, relax,
and chat about the foolish antics of our irresponsible high school days, not to mention the foolish antics of our adult life.

CLASS REUNIONS

Every ten years, as springtime nears,
An announcement arrives in the mail,
A reunion is planned; it sure will be grand;
So make plans to attend without fail.

I'll never forget, the first time we met;
We all tried real hard to impress.
We drove fancy cars, we smoked big cigars,
And we wore our most elegant dress.

It was quite an affair; the whole class was there.
It was held at a fancy hotel.
We wined, and we dined, and we acted refined,
And everyone thought it was swell.

The men all conversed, about who had been first
To achieve their great fortune and fame.
Meanwhile, their spouses described their fine houses
And how beautiful their children became.

The homecoming queen, who once had been lean,
Now weighed in at two-forty-six.
The jocks who were there, had all lost their hair,
The cheerleaders no longer did kicks.

But no one had heard, about the class nerd
Who'd programmed the flight to the moon;
Or poor little Jane, who's always been plain;
Who married a shipping tycoon.

The boy we'd decreed, "most apt to succeed"
Was serving ten years in the pen,
While the one voted "least", he now was a priest;
Just shows that we're wrong now and then.

They awarded a prize, to one of the guys
Who seemed to have aged the least.
Another was given, to he that had driven
The farthest to attend the feast.

They took a class picture, a curious mixture
Of beehives, crew cuts and wide ties.
And tall, short or skinny, the style was mini;
You never saw so many thighs.

At the next get-together, nobody cared whether
They impressed their classmates or not.
The mood was informal, a whole lot more normal,
'cause this time we had all gone to pot.

It was held out-of-doors, right along the lake shore,
We ate hamburgers, coleslaw and beans.
Then most of us laid, around in the shade,
In our comfortable T-shirts and jeans.

By our fortieth year, it's abundantly clear,
That we're definitely over the hill.
And those who weren't dead had to crawl out of bed,
And get home just in time for their pill.

And now I can't wait; they've just set the date;
Our sixtieth is coming, I'm told.
It should be a ball, and they've rented a hall
At the "Shady Rest Home" for the old.

Repairs have been made, on my old hearing aid;
My pacemaker's turned up on high.
My walker's been oiled, my teeth have been boiled
And I've bought a new wig and glass eye.

I'm feeling quite hearty, I'm ready to party
I'll dance until dawn's early light.
We'll have lots of fun, and I hope at least one
Other person will make it that night.
