So, Why The Website?

There are a number of them, but perhaps the single-most important reason for the website is to give the planners of all future reunions a means to effectively and efficiently inform the members of the Glenbrook South Class of '78 of an upcoming reunion.

By creating your FREE profile here, you will learn about all of our future reunions - and any other worthwhile Class of '78 news - automatically, while saving each Reunion Committee countless hours and hundreds of Dollars for an unnecessary mailing everytime there is a reunion. The cost savings to be realized will be passed along in the form of reduced ticket prices at those reunions.

Even if attending the next reunion is not currently of interest to you, merely creating your profile here will give future Reunion Committees a way to reach you. It will save them from having to invest the time and spending valuable resources in an attempt to inform you about a reunion you might not want to attend - This time.

Your profile can be as informative, or as vague as you choose. The important thing is that you create one. In it, you can add pictures, let everyone know what you've been doing since high school - Whatever. What's more, you manage the content of your profile.

When creating your profile, you can:

  • Provide links to your Facebook, LinkedIn or other on-line profiles, potentially connecting with former classmates there;
  • Promote your business by including a link to your website;
  • See when former classmates are on-line - with the ability to chat - or, leave them a message;
  • Post announcements to the other members of the Class of '78.

Long-term, OUR website will:

  • Eliminate the need for Reunion Programs for each future reunion. Collectively, everyone's profile will comprise a perpetual Reunion Program. You will be able to update your own profile and photos whenever it suits you!;
  • Assist the planners of all future reunions by having an efficient means to reach every member of the Class of '78, while eliminating the costly mailings EVERY time a reunion is planned;
  • Since some alumni are only reachable by eMail, and others only on Facebook, this allows everyone with Internet access to be connected in one place - Here!

Frequently Asked or Thought About Questions

Q. Why don't you use the most popular sites on the internet to form the class site?
This web site is free. We looked closely at forming it on other well publicized sites and creating a home made web site. After much research we found out that many sites were not conducive to our needs. We as the GBS Class of 1978 web site are 'grandfathered' in on the Classcreator system. All of the other classmate sites on the internet charge you a fee to belong or use your information for other purposes like selling to third party spammers, not the case here. The other factor is the majority of the information from the classmates on those sites is outdated or there is misinformation. Whereas, this site is a password protected site for only the Class of 1978 and guest members to use. Unlike facebook and other sites this site is a select group all here for the same purpose. To reunite or stay in touch. Your home on the internet for your class, your classmates, your times, your memories, your feel, forever. There is NO advertisements on this web site!
Class Creator has reconnected Classmates in a way no other system has.

Q. I see 'grandfathered' mentioned above, what does that really mean?
The Classcreator site was a rather new web site specifically designed by brilliant programers for class reunions, which has evolved into any sort of reunion. In it's early stages it was free to make a web site on here. After it's ginormous growth and needed revenue to support that growth, CC began to charge for making a web site, albeit still modest for what you get. Our class site being one of the early sites on their system was 'grand fathered' in, courtesy of Brad Switzor and staff at Classcreator (feel free to thank them info@classcreator.com). We do not have access to all the new bells and whistles being invented and modified here on this site, however what we do have is a plethora of available technology. On other class web sites you have to pay to join or post messages, not here.

The Classcreator system and main offices are located in Michigan.
We give CC many plugs (not because we are grandfathered in, Facebook, Myspace and other sites are free to use also) due to their outstanding service, response, support and communicating system all in one place. There are no other social networking systems like this on the internet used for communicating.

We wish to Thank The Class Creator Team for all their help!

Q. WHO PAYS?
Many web site systems bill each member and/or place advertising on the site. Class Creator sites are strictly free of advertising, and 100% free for Classmates to use. Anything short of this detracts from the site and detracts from the goal, which is to gain as close to 100% Classmate participation as possible.  Now the Classcreator system does charge for these web sites. Our site is free, however the domain name does cost us a minimum amount of money.

Q. Why do we need a class of '78 web site when there is Facebook and other sites?
The premise was to have a main collective area where everyone could come to, share information in a private setting set up for our individual class. This is a place to communicate to and from in a more expedient manner necessary information to carry out the task at hand and future needs. This is your web site for everyone to use. The beginnings of it, mind you, are still in their embryonic state. Much should and will be changed or fine tuned. The home page for instance will be honed down to a normal home page with links after the reunion. Take advantage to add your business information on our Networking page (especially in these economic times), post your Charity or Cause, post on the message board and the new one to be implemented or just hang out and have fun looking around and reminisce. We are constantly on the lookout for those with web site experience to help. The pay is zilch and the hours vary. We also apologize for the ginormous home page. We hope it has not locked up your browser. It's main intention is to grab your attention and persuade you to join your class site with other classmates. The other factor is the majority of our other pages including this one are password protected for your privacy. The home page is one of the first places a new classmate sees, so we have put as much information as possible on there to inform them of the reunion and of course to have them join the lost flock of sheep from '78. Keep in mind a lot of those applications you are loading on your computer send bit of informatiion to FB and other sites like that about your IP, your habits, your browsing etc.

Q. I see a lot of typos, incorrect use of grammar and spelling, missing photos, or things just don't make sense. I would do things differently.
Evrythng on her is objctivey aded with miner subjctive influnces. We try to use a spel chek. Fell free to coment, make sugestins or hep out. Udder dan dat, you n yers will hav ta speek wit are clas aturny.

Q. Why are there other GBS Class of 1978 sites or pages on the internet.
Some were pre-existing, some are there to bait you in while charging a fee or using your information, while others were created to form a network in order to direct you to this web site. It also helps when someone is searching for their class on the internet by creating more Meta tags. Facebook, Yahoo (are our sister links), Reunion Magazine and You Tube are some examples.

Q. I am on other GBS Class of 1978 web sites and it has worked out in the past.
Ask youself one question; Other than joining can you do much on that site without having to pay a fee?
The other key is the word 'past'. This is new evolving and innovative technology.

Q. The nostalgic songs on the player are over the top!
We agree! They can be changed to anything. To stop the music at anytime just press the pause button or your own mute button on your system. If you have any suggestions on music to play, send them to us!

Q. I prefer not to go on the 1978 class website or participate, what now?
By reading this you are already on your class site. The majority of our pages are password protected. You cannot view many of our pages without being signed in. We take great strides in verifying all classmates. Joining the class web site or being active in it is soley at your discretion. It is for GBS Class of '78 or GBS information in general and a great way to stay in contact through a specifically designed system for GBS Alumni, Faculty, Administration Staff, Para pros, guest members and their reunions. The response service from Classcreator has been beyond words and did we mention it is free? All of the people on this site you know or somewhat remember. We all are not 'friends of friends of friends' like on other sites.

Q. I understand we have to be verified to join our class site, why is that? I don't have to be verified on Facebook or other class sites.
To prevent spammers, hijackers, kidde hacks and miss-use of your information and for the integrety of our class web site. We will never give out any of your information, we cannont see your password. You have the capability to make all, some or none of your information viewable or accessable only by our 'password protected' web pages.

Q. Can we send in some photos and some information to post on the web site.
Absolutely, this is what this place is all about. Your place, Your class, Your classmates, Your memories.
