ANNOUNCEMENTS

From Linda Peterson Fryar (posted 9 May 2012)

Wayne and I wanted to inform everyone that Ron Murphey has been seriously ill about 3 weeks ago. He had an viral infection that caused him to have congestive heart failure. He has been in and out of the Okla. City Heart hospital 2 times. He is doing a little better but he still has 3 to 4 months of recovery at home before he will be back to his old self. He is getting a little stronger but is still very sick. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. If you call him at home, please keep phone calls very short because he is still very sick.

2011 PSC Reunion
Our 2011 PSC Reunion was held in conjunction with the OPSU Homecoming 15 October 2011. Events included an informal gathering at Caktus Jack's Steakhouse on the evening of the 14th, official registration the next morning in the OPSU Student Union Ballroom, observation of the Homecoming Parade, participation in the Alumni BBQ lunch, cheering the Aggie Football team to their first victory of the year over Texas College, mixer/dinner at the Elks Lodge in Guymon, and a small gathering to say farewell at breakfast the following morning at the Best Western Hotel in Guymon.

At best count 85 classmates registered and participated in some fashion over the weekend. There were a few more classmates I saw that did not register. Several could only make the Friday evening gathering or the Saturday daytime activities, but we're glad they came.  With spouses we had 86 for the mixer/dinner and program Saturday night.

That evening we reconnected with each other through a little mixer, had a great BBQ dinner catered by Hunny's of Guymon, honored our deceased classmates, and heard comments from Garvin Quinn, Class President '71; Keith Flanagan, Student Association President '70; Gib Dolezal, PSC Quarterback '72, and Ed Zupsic Class of '73.  The evening program was concluded with a duet from Bill & Vicki Patterson '72 and a benediction to send us on our way.

I'd like to thank those participants above along with Barry & Kathy Schoenhals, Mike & Linda Scott, Wayne & Linda Fryar, Coach & Mrs. Gribble, and Jerry & Susan Jefferis for their assistance with the registration, decorating, and setup of the events.  It just wouldn't have been successful without them.

Check out the reunion photos within the PSC Photo Gallery link by clicking on the second topic to the left.  Those of you who did attend and took some photos please feel free to add your own.  It's a work in progress at this point as my return to the islands has been met with a considerable 'honey do' list from Grandma Kim, daughter Jenny, and grand daughter Anya in anticipation of preparing a new residence for my son-in-law and family.

There was an expressed interest in a repeat performance maybe five years from now.  Particularly for those that attended, please let us know your thoughts and ideas of improvement on the Message forum for all to see (I've got a thick skin..ha).  Those who did not attend may also wish to let us know of their interest once they hear from those who were present.  I'm also looking for volunteers to chair various aspects of the event and make it better 'next go round'.

Let's stay connected and enjoy the rediscovered friendships of our college years.

Aloha,

John Jefferis, Website Administrator
