Richard Lanes, 53, of Grand Forks died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in his home after a brief battle with cancer.

Richard Donald Lanes was born March 14, 1956 in Grafton, ND the son of Donald and Evelyn (Svaren) Lanes. He grew up and attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High school in 1974. After graduation he studied to be an electrician and worked as a Journeyman Electrician locally for his entire career. He took great pride in doing quality work for clients.

Richard married Tamera Stewart on October 22, 1992 in Grand Forks.

He enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his garden. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by wife; Tamera Lanes, Grand Forks; son, Joshua Lanes, Grand Forks; daughter, Haley Lanes, Grand Forks; mother, Evelyn Lanes, Grand Forks; sisters, Phyllis Johnson, Grand Forks, ND, Audrey (Pete) Arguijo, Pleasanton, TX, Ruth (Leo) Rutten, Harvey, ND; numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald and a brother-in-law, Bob Johnson.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave., Grand Forks.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St. Grand Forks.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
