I remember Ron from Seymour and Christian High. We were friends. I know he gave his life for us in Vietnam. When we were in DC, I found his name on the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. Thanks for your service and sacrifice.
Every morning (I think our senior year) Ron picked me up on the corner of Madison and Alger in his big black Ford. I remember it was a three-on-the-column stick shift and always very clean. I don't remember what we talked about, or if we talked at all. Ron was a man of few words with a dry sense of humor and a wry smile. He also had big hands and could palm a basketball to our amazement. I've been to the The Wall several times to remember him. Thanks, Ron.
When we were in Seymour together Ron was part of a stamp club that included among others, Bill Brashler. On one occasion when Ron missed a very desirable trade, he exclaimed "Damn, damn, triple damn!" My mother swooped down from the upstairs and scolded him soundly. After she left, Ron likely smiled that wry smile.
